Reflections

Reflections!  We see them almost every day.  We often begin our day by looking at our own reflection in the mirror.  Sometimes we like what we see --- at other times we don't.  In nature, water is the most common reflection maker.  The accuracy of a reflection is determined by how still the water is.  On this quiet calm morning along the Merced River in Yosemite National Park, the reflection gives an accurate representation of the surrounding beauty.  Had there been a storm or a lot of wind, this picture would have been much different --- much less beautiful.

Reflection also has another meaning.  When we reflect on something we find a quite place to stop to think, look, and listen.  This is often a difficult thing to do in the busy, fast paced world we live in.  Yet, this is often the best way of gaining an accurate understanding about life.  3000 years ago King David of Israel was inspired by God to pen the words of Psalm 46:10 which reads, "Be still and know that I am God."  David understood that it is important to take time to reflect on the wonder of God and all His greatness.  Perhaps you need to find a quiet place and take time today to reflect on God's greatness and goodness, and His great love for you.  As you find your place of solace, open up a Bible to the Gospel of John and begin your time of reflection.  What you read and think about may change your life!
