Recently, I spent a half day hiking near Sedona, Arizona. Sedona is known for it's red rock beauty and many hiking trails. I chose the 6 mile Brins Mesa trail in Mormon Canyon. The view from the top of the mesa was stunning. As the sun sank lower in the sky the canyon started to take on a life of its own. The rock formations and canyon walls began to glow a deep reddish orange. The darkening shadows revealed cracks and crevices that were indistinguishable earlier in the day. The conditions were perfect except for the fact that I was watching this grand display of beauty all by myself. I really wanted to share this awesome view with someone else.
Have you ever experienced a moment like this? Why is it that when we are enjoying something incredible we long to have someone with us to share the moment? I think it is because God designed us to experience the greatest joy in life when we are in relationship. The relationship that is most satisfying is the one God desires us to have with us. He created the world we live in and each day He reminds us through His creation that He is there and wants us to know Him and experience the wonder of His glory. Perhaps, this is something that you long for. God said in Jeremiah 29:13, "You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart."
